Here is a list of 20 inventions made in between 1900 and 1910. This was a good decade, from air conditioners to cornflakes to helicopters! These inventions are either used to this day or became the first models to the items now.
1) 1900 - Escalator
Charles Seeberger redesigned Jesse Reno's escalator and invented the modern escalator. This invention has cleated, level steps that can move up or down to transport people.
2) 1901 - Radio
The first radio receiver, successfully received a radio transmission. A radio receiver is an electronic device that receives radio waves and converts the information carried by them to a usable form.
3) 1901 - Razor
King Camp Gillette invents the double-edged safety razor. Their plan was to reduce the level of skill needed for injury-free shaving, thereby reducing the reliance on professional barbers for providing that service and raising grooming standards.
4) 1901 - Vacuum
Hubert Booth invents a compact and modern vacuum cleaner. This machine uses an air pump to create a partial vacuum to suck up dust and dirt, usually from floors, and optionally from other surfaces as well.
5) 1902 - Air Conditioner
Willis Carrier invents the air conditioner. The A/C has the process of altering the properties of air to more comfortable conditions, typically with the aim of distributing the conditioned air to an occupied space to improve thermal comfort.
6) 1902 - Teddy Bear
The birth of the Teddy Bear. This soft toy was named after President Theodore "Teddy" Roosevelt, Jr., and the teddy bear became an iconic children's toy, celebrated in story, song, and film.
7) 1902- Polygraph
The lie detector or polygraph machine is invented by James Mackenzie. This measures and records several physiological indices such as blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and skin conductivity while the subject is asked and answers a series of questions.
8) 1902 - Neon Light
George Claude invented neon light. The light typically consists of a small glass capsule that contains a mixture of neon and other gases at a low pressure and two electrodes. When sufficient voltage and current is supplied between the electrodes, the bulb produces a glowing discharge.
9) 1903 - Airplane
The Wright brothers invent the first gas motored and manned airplane. Although they were not the first to build and fly experimental aircraft, the Wright brothers were the first to invent aircraft controls that made fixed-wing powered flight possible.
10) 1903 - Windshield Wipers
Mary Anderson invents windshield wipers. This was an automatic car window cleaning device controlled inside the car.
11) 1904 - Teabags
Teabags invented by Thomas Suillivan. This is a small, porous sealed bag containing tea leaves and used with water for brewing the beverage called tea, or herbs or spices for brewing herbal teas.
12) 1904 - Tractor
Benjamin Holt invents a tractor. This machine is used for heavy agricultural which he founded with his brothers the Holt Manufacturing Company.
13) 1905 - Theory of Relativity
Albert Einstein published the Theory of Relativity and made famous the equation, E = mc2. In physics, massenergy equivalence is the concept that the mass of an object or system is a measure of its energy content, this equation is used to figure out this measure.
14) 1906 - Cornflakes
William Kellogg invents Cornflakes. This happened by accident when Kellogg and his younger brother, Will Keith Kellogg, left some cooked wheat to sit while they attended to some pressing matters at the sanitarium.
15) 1907 - Bakelite
Leo Baekeland invents the first synthetic plastic called Bakelite. The scientific term for this is "polyoxybenzylmethylenglycolanhydride" (an early plastic).
16) 1907 - Color Photography
Color photography invented by Auguste and Louis Lumiere. In color photography, electronic sensors or light-sensitive chemicals record color information at the time of exposure.
17) 1907 - Helicopter
The very first piloted helicopter was invented by Paul Cornu. This invention was an open-framework structure built around a curved steel tube that carried a rotor at either end, and the engine and pilot in the middle.
18) 1908 - Gyro Compass
The gyro compass invented by Elmer A. Sperry. This is a type of non-magnetic compass which is based on a fast-spinning disc and rotation of the Earth to automatically find geographical direction.
19) 1909 - Instant Coffee
Instant coffee invented by G. Washington. He began selling his coffee in 1909 and founded a company to manufacture it in 1910.
